Aloha Educators, Community Members, Keiki, & Kūpuna,
Warm greetings from the Education Department at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center! As we begin another year of learning, creativity, and connection, we are grateful for the educators, students, families, artists, and community partners who continue to make our programs so meaningful.
This year, we look forward to building upon the relationships and experiences that bring the arts to life for our island community. Through school performances, artist residencies, professional development opportunities for educators, gallery experiences, and collaborations with community partners, we remain committed to creating opportunities that inspire curiosity, encourage creativity, and deepen our connection to the people, culture, and environment of Maui Nui.
Last year, we had fun exploring Mea Kanu and discovering the many ways plants connect us to our ʻāina, culture, and one another. This year, we are excited to continue that journey with Ola I ka Wai, a theme we introduced to our teachers and teaching artists during our 2026 Summer Institute. Through Ola I ka Wai, we will explore the vital role of wai in sustaining life and the many ways water connects people, place, culture, and community. We look forward to seeing how this theme flows through our programs and inspires creativity, curiosity, and meaningful connections throughout the year.
At the heart of our work is the belief that the arts provide powerful opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. We are deeply grateful for your continued partnership and for the many ways you help us nurture creativity and learning throughout our community.
We look forward to welcoming you and your students to the MACC and sharing another inspiring year together.
Me ke aloha pumehana,
Stacey Gonsalves
