CANDO! DAYS

Generations of students from all over Maui County have participated in our hands-on art immersion lessons. This year we continue our lesson plans that combine Nā Hopena A‘o (Hā) learning outcomes with arts integration strategies, including visual arts, dance & movement, music, and dramatic arts.

CHANGES!

  • All attendees (students, teachers, chaperones, etc.) are required to submit a photo release consent form no later than 1 (one) week prior to attending scheduled CanDo! Day. Teachers/Administrators may upload all completed forms here.

  • New starting time! Days will begin promptly at 9:00am. Please schedule transportation to arrive no later than 8:50am

INFO & INSTRUCTIONS

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE 

Plan to arrive at the Education Complex by no later than 8:50am as the program will begin promptly at 9:00am and will end at 1:00pm, unless arranged prior to attendance.

Please have your students remain seated on the bus until you are in front of our McCoy Studio Theater and your bus is greeted by a MACC staff member or volunteer.

GROUPS

The program requires 4 (four) groups, one for each class rotation. Please divide and identify groups by A,B,C,D prior to arrival. Please bring at least one chaperone to be present for each group. Teachers and/or chaperones are encouraged to be actively participating with your students. The MACC’s Teaching Artists shall not be held responsible for behavioral management.

NAME TAGS

Please have each student wear a tag with their first name large enough for instructors to read from a distance.

ATTIRE

Students should wear slippers/sandals and comfortable clothing so that they can move easily. Girls will be most comfortable wearing shorts.  All students will be participating in yoga, sitting on floors and in grassy areas.

LUNCH                  10:55-11:20 (25 min)

SESSION 4             12:10-1:00 (50 min)

Please have each student bring a lunch including a beverage. They will have a lunch break in the courtyard.

SPECIAL REQUESTS 

If you have concerns about special needs for students, please let us know in advance. Prior knowledge helps our professional instructors to be prepared and keep a creative and safe learning environment for them and all other attending students.

COST, ATTENDANCE & CANCELLATIONS

This year, the cost is FREE! However, available days are limited, therefore we kindly ask if you register for a particular date that you commit to attending. Otherwise please cancel no later than 30 (thirty) days of your reserved date. Failure to do so may result in an automatic $500 fee charged to your school.
