CANDO! DAYS
FOR STUDENTS

2025-2026
ABOUT CANDO! DAYS
The MACC’s longest-running and most comprehensive arts education field trip program. CanDo! Days engages students (primarily 1-5) in interactive, hands-on lessons in Visual Arts, Theater, Movement, Mele. Each session integrates Hawaiian cultural knowledge, social-emotional learning (SEL), and Department of Education content standards, and is offered in English and ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi.

2025-2026 SY THEME
We’re thrilled to invite everyone, from the uplands to the shores, to join us for this year’s CanDo! Days. The theme builds on 2024-2025’s exploration of the ahupua‘a system, focusing on mea kanu—the plants that nourish, heal, and sustain. By deepening our understanding of how plants connect to the land and culture, this theme highlights sustainable practices, native flora, and the vital role of plants in building resilient communities.
Through Nā Hopena A‘o (Hā) learning outcomes, students will engage in a day filled with arts integration, exploring mele, theater, visual arts, and movement. It’s an invitation to reconnect with the environment through creativity, knowledge, and hands-on experiences.
INTEGRATED STANDARDS
Explore our 2025- 2026 Arts Integration Crosswalk, a comprehensive guide aligning the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s CanDo! Days lesson plans with Hawaiʻi DOE Common Core (ELA & Math), Nā Hopena Aʻo (HĀ), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and National Core Arts Standards (NCAS).
This document provides educators with clear, genre-based connections across Music, Movement, Theater, and Visual Arts, making it easy to see how each lesson supports academic rigor, cultural grounding, and whole-child development.
